His artistry is both functional structures, and decorative design compositions.  Mr. Eckerman sometimes uses fieldstone in his designs, it beautifully flows like water in Gaudi-like organic patterns.  Michael combines freeform curves with the typically random patterns of traditional fieldstone construction. This combination can evoke a sense of both fluidity and strength.  The imaginative use of pattern and organic flowing form give the work a fantastic aesthetic. One may imagine an entrance to a secret garden or a mystical fantasy faerie home.
